Paleo – Day 1 – recap

Today marked my first day of Paleo, so I started with taking stock of where I stand.

Current stats

Weight: XX kg (ugh)

Waist: XX cm

Hip: XX cm

Thigh: XX cm

(Looks stupid, I know, but I don’t feel entirely comfortable posting my measurements here. I’ll be recording the changes.)

General well-being

Sleep: ca. 8 hours the night before, woke up fairly easily, feeling refreshed

Binging: woke up once & ate

Skin: some spots, not that bad currently

Stomach: a little grumbly

Today

Breakfast: eggs fried in olive oil, some leftover ratatouille (home-cooked) that I found in the freezer – I literally had nothing but two eggs in the fridge when I woke up. The idea of grocery shopping before breakfast wasn’t appealing. While the breakfast was not what I’d normally eat, at least it was Paleo. 😉

Lunch: leftover cooked romanesco & cauliflower with steak

Dinner: ground meat with a side of carrots

Drinks: 4 cups of herbal tea + 2 liters of water

Feeling: I woke up feeling refreshed and energized. Had a headache from late morning to afternoon, possibly from lack of caffeine? General energy level high though, mood great. Cravings weren’t so bad, only missing coffee (possibly out of habit) for breakfast and directly after lunch. Nothing too bad. All meals actually kept me full for very long.

Workout

Biking: 38 kms

CrossFit:

Pre-workout: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 push-ups & reverse sit-ups

Workout: 20 minutes to find 1 RM bench press, then 10 minutes EMOTM 2 bench press at 80% 1RM

Extra credit: 2 x 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 strict pull-ups

Felt great during today’s workout! I PRed my bench press and felt great. I ended up at 42.5kg (+2.5kg), failed at 45 kg a couple of times. For the EMOTM-workout, I used 35kg and felt strong throughout. Even my push-ups and pull-ups weren’t too bad today.

Goal for tomorrow: meal-plan for the upcoming week and clear the cupboards of non-Paleo foods (to be taken to the basement for now).
